About

I'm Matthew Field, an infrastructure and platform engineer with a background in DevOps, cloud architecture, and developer tooling. I spend most of my time thinking about how systems scale, how teams build and ship reliably, and how to make the operational side of software feel less like fighting fires.

My work spans Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, and the glue code that holds production environments together. I care about observability, on-call experience, and building platforms that make developers faster without adding invisible complexity.

Outside of work I keep an eye on the broader engineering landscape, contribute to open source when I can, and write about things I've learned the hard way.

This site is where I collect my work, current thinking, and notes on the tools and ideas I find worth sharing.
